A Girl Scout troop is in trouble for selling cookies outside Daylite Cannabis dispensary in Mount Laurel in South Jersey.
Since weed gives you the munchies, it seemed like a very good idea.
They sold the cookies outside Daylite Cannabis in February, but were not allowed to return last week.
But now, the Girl Scouts are in trouble with their regional Central and Southern Jersey Council since they are not allowed to enter a dispensary alone and buy something.
The Council has not responded to mainstream media requests for comments.
The official Girl Scout Cookie selling rules on how they want children hustling cookie sales for them have now been updated.
They now say:
- “All booth sales must take place in a designated, council-approved area.
- Check with your troop cookie volunteer to determine who is authorized to approach locations to request permission to hold a booth and how to sign up for expanded cookie booths opportunities if offered by your Council.
- Girl Scouts should not sell in or in front of establishments that they themselves cannot legally patronize.”
It has made national news on the tabloid-esque TMZ, among other mainstream media outlets. Conservatives and normies seem outraged at the cleverness of the Girl Scouts to sell cookies.
However, others have applauded the cleverness of the Girl Scouts, including Mount Laurel Mayor Stephen J. Steglik.
Girl Scout Cookies Sold Outside Daylite Cannabis Dispensary
Daylite Cannabis Owner Steve Cassidy told News 12 that a lot of cookies were sold to the public and their staff.
“The feedback from our customers was overwhelmingly positive,” he explained.
“We’re not scheduled to have them back anytime soon. But the doors are always open for the Girl Scouts to return,” he added.
Cassidy did not wish to see the Girl Scouts get in trouble for their actions. He noted adult chaperones accompanied them.
Cassidy is a local entrepreneur who was previously arrested for cannabis. Daylite Cannabis dispensary opened in September 2023.
“I own this business with my parents, my wife, and my best friend, so we are very much a part of this community. We are from this area and surrounding towns,” he told ABC 6 Action News.
The Girl Scout troop and individuals have not been publicly identified.
However, this is a good lesson for the children on the problems of being a small business owner in America and the need to deal with red tape based on social stigma. It often hinders and stops the efforts of clever businesspeople who should be rewarded for such brilliant ideas.
Excessive restrictions are probably perpetuating the nature of cannabis as taboo or “bad.”
Incidentally, Girl Scout Cookies is the name of a cannabis strain/cultivar.
