Cannademix career conference

Cannademix is back at Hudson County Community College in Jersey City’s Journal Square for another cannabis career conference next Thursday.

They will hold an experience highlighting the education, opportunities, and culture of cannabis in New Jersey. Cannademix last held a career conference at Hudson County Community College in June.

Cannademix Founder Joshua Alb said it would be “a one-stop-shop to get into the industry.”

His company, Alb Labs, was among those that won a New Jersey adult-use cannabis manufacturing license last week.

Their career conference will focus on educating students and helping legacy operators/community members get into New Jersey’s industry. There will be 1-on-1 mentoring sessions with industry professionals, educational panels, a consumption demo, a cooking demo, and career resources.

“The school has been kind enough to put on a job fair with us,” Alb explained.

During the job fair part of the career conference, the vertically integrated cannabis companies Verano and Apothecarium will be there looking to hire people.

In addition, Cannademix will be debuting its licensing clinic where people can meet with application writers, lawyers, lobbyists, accounts, government officials, and others who could help them achieve the difficult dream of owning a licensed cannabis company.

“We’ll have people that fit those requirements for things you are missing,” Alb said about cannabis license applications.

To assist those with non-violent cannabis records, Cannademix will also feature an expungement clinic to clean up records. Jersey City conditional license winner Hamm & Chaz will be sponsoring it.

There will be a free gift bag and meal for the first 100 attendees that enter the event.

Cannabis Career Conference by Cannademix

Cannademix’s career conference will feature diverse panelists from Black Indigenous People of Color (BIPOC), Asian American Pacific Islander (AAPI), and the Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender Questioning (LGBTQ+) communities.

There will be several featured speakers on multiple panels. I am moderating a panel on creating communities with Director of Diversity of Inclusion Floyd Jeter, Sam Padro of Verano, and social justice advocate Cuqui Rivera of the Latino Action Network (where I was formerly the Vice President of Communications full disclosure).

Other speakers include Alb, attorney Jessica F. Gonzalez, Valentina Fiero, activist Nadir Pearson, Penni Wild of the NJ Business Action Center, Vanessa Williams of Rutgers Law School, HoneySuckle Publisher Ronit Pinto, Dr. Alan Ao, Nichelle Santos, Jersey City Cannabis Board Chair Brittani Bunney, Paulette Goto, HoneySuckle Editor Jaime Lubin, Jelani Gibson of NJ Cannabis Insider, Estefania Valencia of SannaOhanna Wellness, Tiyahnn Bryant of Roll up Life, and more.

Featured companies include Apothecarium, Alb Labs, Aubrey Group, CannaCoverage, Emerge Law, Hamm & Chaz, Heady NJ, HoneySuckle, Mystic Timber, NJ Cannabis Insider, SannaOhana Wellness, UFCW Local 360, Urban Leaf, Valley Wellness, Verano, and Vigor Dispensary.

At the end of the career conference, Hudson County Community College will award six scholarships to the cannabis class attorney Jessica Gonzalez teaches there. Her New Jersey Cannabis Licensing Workshop is a four-week, non-credit program that provides an overview of what is needed to apply for and operate a New Jersey-licensed cannabis business.

“We believe in true social equity, and that means creating a financial pillar that the Black and Brown community can rely on for success,” Cannademix founder Josh Alb said.

The scholarship will go to minorities and women formerly incarcerated and/or adversely affected by the War on Drugs.

“Those are the people we want to see get licensing the most,” Alb added.
