Warrior Weed Suing Jersey City for Dispensary Denial

MSO Curaleaf Lawsuit NJ-CRC Warrior Weed Jersey City

Warrior Weed LLC is suing Jersey City since the City Council denied their resolution for an adult-use cannabis dispensary needed to open due to local opposition.

Many also believe there are too many dispensaries in the city already, including dispensary owners who have already opened up. There also many smoke shops selling infused hemp. The City tried to crack down on some recently.

The lawsuit notes confusion by the newly elected City Councilmembers on the changes of nuances and the imposition of a cap grandfathering in about 48 dispensaries, including Warrior Weed. That’s because they were already in the process of opening when the cap was imposed.

However, Warrior Weed called the denial “arbitrary, capricious, unreasonable, and unlawful.”

Jersey City Mayor James Solomon’s Communication Director Nathaniel Styer said they cannot comment on ongoing litigation.

According to the lawsuit, the Council did not voice* concerns recognizing the opposition before voting them down recently.

So, Warrior Weed is suing them in Hudson County Superior Court. They’re based at 415 Monmouth Street.

The idea that a limit has been reached has followed them through the process.

The Planning Board denied them approval. But the City changed the cannabis process. So their approval was no longer needed.
