Heady NJ recently hosted the Women in Cannabis Heady Chronicle Podcast Show and Party in Elizabeth, which brought together the cannabis industry and community from around New Jersey.
Done in collaboration with Budzooka Dispensary of Elizabeth, the event showcased a panel of powerful women from the industry as they talked about their work.
Live Heady Chronicle Podcast Panel
Heady NJ Editor Dan Ulloa hosted the live Heady Chronicle Podcast show with a panel of company leaders and senior figures. They discussed their stories, their companies, and their appreciation for the women of the cannabis market.
But before the panel began, Tavia, AKA HighHeauxx, held a live “How to dab” demonstration.
Experienced Women in Cannabis NJ Leaders Panel Guests
Matha Figaro is CEO of the CannPowerment Contract Manufacturing and ButACake companies. She now produces brownie edibles, cookies, churros, and her new sugar-free, diabetic friendly edible, “Angry Gorilla”.
Nichelle Santos is the founder and CEO of Cannacoverage Insurance Services. Her company works to protect cannabis businesses, providing insurance from potential legal difficulties. “We are here to protect and serve you.”
Ariel Mizrahi, CEO and Founder of Bud 2 Bloom dispensary in the conservative town of Netcong. Excited to support her community, she works closely with the Netcong food pantry.
Wednesday Mayer is Director of Community Engagement for Quality Cannabliss. She is proud of her work throughout the years in cannabis and in supporting the local communities. Wednesday explained that “there’s nothing else I’d rather do”.
Getting into Cannabis
Matha explained she was a pastry chef who started selling her butter cakes at farmers’ markets. When she was convinced to turn her butter cake into an infused edible, it quickly became increasingly popular.
Ariele noted she started off using cannabis recreationally and became interested in the health benefits it provided her, allowing her to get off of medications finally. She was inspired to empower her community with an understanding of cannabis and the benefits it can provide.
Wednesday noted got into cannabis because of her love of it for treating herself. She talked about how she got into cannabis for self-medication, which helped her sleep well and feel better from her condition. Wednesday then was an underground legacy businesswoman before becoming a budtender at one dispensary and going up the ladder at another dispensary.
Nichelle told the panel that, “I believe in the science and medicine, the health and wellness side of cannabis, in the over 70 medical conditions, it impacts to improve health outcomes.”
When her daughter started to get into the business of it, she realized this growing industry needed people to protect its risk.
Cannabis Industry Advice from Experienced Women
Matha’s advice was to “do a ton of research, first, save more money than you think you need to save, and then do more research and save again.”
Nichelle talked about the importance of planning and legal protection in the cannabis field.
“So follow the manufacturer’s instructions…Make sure those instructions are clearly laid out on the packaging,” she said.
Arielle’s advice to those interested in the cannabis industry was the importance of planning, consistency over ego, flexibility, being teachable, and careful legal compliance. She said the most important thing is to know the motivation that keeps you moving beyond the money. “It has to be about the people”.
Wednesday said her best advice is to get out there, be active in your community, and be sure to network in the industry.
Fitness Demonstration
At the end of the panel, a fitness demo was performed by Dawnlovestacos, the lead budtender at Canopy Crossroad. She taught the audience how she performs her art, using cannabis strength as an analogy for difficulty, from simple walks to impressive tricks.

Cannabis social media Icon, Kira Russell, then spoke, sharing her perspectives and advice for using social media.
Great Event Space and Vibe
The DJ played smooth but vibey music throughout the night. A food table was ready for anyone who might get the munchies, as the bar stood ready for patrons to use.

BarCanna offered an impressive assortment of dabs, edibles, and cannabis cocktails for all guests to enjoy. The team showed guests how to properly use different forms of dab rigs and educated guests on their products.
This included their own cannabis bar, with several tasty professionally made drinks to try, each infused with the Highly Original soluble rosin formula, courtesy of Mojo Botanica, and also Mindset Ease gummies from the Clique brand.


Teaming up with Budzooka was Natasha. She curated a wellness corner where she melted away guests’ stress with infused mini massages, and had her women’s infused body oil available for purchase along with powerful crystals.
Prominent NJ Cannabis Brands
Besides collaborating on the event, Budzooka also showcased some products and was available to answer any questions regarding the Budzooka business.
Garden Greenz’s friendly staff at their Jersey City dispensary gave out fun merchandise while educating those attending about their company.
In addition, the Lost Chronic organization, founded by Patricia Smith, highlighted the importance of education and needed progress in medical cannabis legalization. They advocate that medical cannabis patients should be able to travel with prescribed medical cannabis without interrupting their treatment.

Overall, the collaboration of the industry bonded together in their aspiration to support their communities, which was truly a beautiful sight to see.
