CBD Oil is becoming known as a great method to treat many chronic conditions that traditional medicine has not been able to address.

CBD oil is derived from the cannabinoid Cannabidiol also known as CBD, the most medically beneficial bioactive chemical in cannabis. Cannabidiol has been marketed for its potential to treat various types of pain, ranging from nociceptive to neuropathic pain.

Pain has a way of reducing the overall quality of life. It’s worse if the pain results from a chronic or terminal disease. The correct dose of CBD oil is very important.

Many people would settle for conventional pain-relieving medications, such as opioids when battling such conditions. Although these drugs are effective to an extent, they also trigger a host of adverse effects, like opioid addiction.

Understanding the Body’s Natural Pain Mediation Process

Whether you’re suffering from acute or chronic pain, CBD oil can be quite useful. But before you can learn how to smoke hash for pain relief, it’s important to understand how CBD oil works in your system.

The human body contains a system that regulates internal homeostatic balance, known as the Endocannabinoid System (ECS). This system comprises receptors known as endocannabinoid receptors, endogenous neurotransmitters known as endocannabinoids, and various hormones that escalate the reuptake or degradation of the endocannabinoids. Besides maintaining internal homeostasis, the endocannabinoid system also plays a role in boosting the body’s overall immunity.

When you experience pain, your ECS registers those feelings as a homeostatic abnormally. Endocannabinoid receptors pick up the pain signals and transmit them to your brain and central nervous system. The brain and the ECS interpret the possible causes as well as the intensity of the pain and then embark on a series of processes to mediate the pain.

Theoretically natural pain management system should enable your body to ward off pain. Unfortunately, that is not always the case, as it depends on the effectiveness of your Endocannabinoid System. Your ECS may not function well if your immunity is already compromised, or if there are abnormalities in how your brain interprets pain. This is where CBD oil comes in.

The Role of CBD Oil in Pain Management

Cannabidiol falls into a group of cannabis compounds known as phytocannabinoids. When you consume CBD oil, the phytocannabinoids in the compound enter your body through the Endocannabinoid System and increase your count of endocannabinoids. Think of it as military reinforcements. More endocannabinoids in your body translate to a charged-up Endocannabinoid System, and subsequently, a more effective pain signaling process.

Studies have shown that cannabidiol can also enhance how your endocannabinoids bind to your endocannabinoid receptors by altering the endocannabinoid receptors’ chemical structure. A medical study established that CBD could bind to the TRPV1 receptor (also known as the Vanilloid receptor) through a complex mechanism that results in pain relief.

CBD oil also reduces pain by giving your body more access to its own endocannabinoids. This happens where there are abnormalities in how the body detects the presence of its neurotransmitters responsible for pain reduction. The capacity is there, but your body figure out how to harness it. When administered, CBD oil can increase the signaling of anandamide, a neurotransmitter that has shown remarkable potential in managing pain and anxiety.

What Does Research Say?

There’s no shortage of studies citing CBD oil for its potential for treating pain.

A 2016 study investigating the effects of cannabidiol among arthritis patients established that CBD could reduce the pain and tenderness associated with the condition. In a similar study, researchers found CBD oil could reduce the pain triggered by osteoarthritis.

Fibromyalgia is another chronic pain disease that you can manage effectively using CBD oil. Considered one of the most unbearable chronic pain conditions, fibromyalgia occurs due to the body’s reduced ability to interpret and analyze the severity of pain. This abnormality usually results from either too many pain-signaling cells in the Endocannabinoid System or overly hyperactive cells. As such, minor bruises are registered as excruciating pain. People with fibromyalgia tend to experience sudden, unbearable pain even without any apparent triggers.

Fortunately, there are already numerous studies citing CBD oil for its ability to manage fibromyalgia-induced pain. Researchers noted in a 2017 study they found significant reduction in the feelings of pain among fibromyalgia patients. They concluded that CBD oil could fight fibromyalgia-induced pain by modulating the hypersensitivity of pain-signaling cells.

Another study on the pain-relieving benefits of CBD oil forfibromyalgia patients established that CBD could reduce pain by up to 30 percent. The study basically involved the use of Bediol, a drug formulated with both CBD and tetrahydrocannabinol (THC).

Besides arthritis and fibromyalgia, you can treat Multiple Sclerosis (MS), migraines, endometriosis, cancer pain, and Irritable bowel Syndrome (IBS) with CBD oil.
