New Jersey Cannabis Showcase Held in Rahway

NJ Cannabis Show Case 420 NJ Events

420 NJ Events presented the New Jersey Cannabis Showcase in Rahway in Union County, recently. Many licensed cannabis cultivators, dispensary owners, and other business professionals attended the event.

The Showcase brought together those who are passionate about the plant from all around New Jersey. The cannabis culture can’t exist without connection.

Seeing the women and minority-owned, Jersey-grown, and mom-and-pop businesses, all contributing their unique gifts and thriving, was inspiring.

Speaking to companies and learning about initiatives like Illicit’s Restorative Justice Canna Convict Project was fascinating as well. They gave out artsy rolling papers with their message, to shed light on and help those who remain in prison for nonviolently partaking in the same plant that the community enjoys the freedom to consume.

Educated consumerism requires learning and thoughtful intention, especially for those who appreciate the subtle but deep nuance within Cannabis. There are many safe and certified companies, but each may have its own superior twist that keeps the exciting innovation of cannabis moving forward.

Tables offered interesting, informative, and often hands-on material for guests to learn about products.

Guests were also offered the non-infused version of Garden Society’s fast-acting, 15-minute, full-spectrum gummies.

The event was cannabis-friendly and Bring Your Own Weed (BYOW). People relaxed at tables, talking and connecting while rolling with provided papers or trays and listening to the DJ.

The Opulence venue was perfect for both the tabling and education, as well as for its comfy spots to lounge and relax. Guests were able to light up together, sip provided mocktails, and enjoy their Sunday afternoon with the community.

Guests received raffle tickets upon entry. Winners were periodically announced and awarded prizes such as dab rigs.

Getting to Know 420 NJ Events

420NJEvents was founded in 2020 by Brendon Robinson and his good friend Stanley Okoro.

“Our thing has always been how to bring different, diverse groups together through the plant,” said Brendon Robinson.

What excites you most about this event?

“Watching it grow. You know, when you walk in there and see the looks of energy on people’s faces man. This is why we got so excited to legalize cannabis.”

What’s one thing you’d want people to walk away with?

That New Jersey cannabis is different. In every way. New Jersey’s just a different place.”

“We’ve got 9 million people here- 70% of us wanted this plant.”

”The stigma is still so broad and so looming that folks still sneak into dispensaries to buy weed. We’re still living in that time.”

This plant brings people together who never talk to each other, but now are gonna build relationships. That’s what it’s all about.”

“There’s folks in there talking to like the brand owners of a brand they’ve been smoking for a year or two years and never even knew the guy or girl…There’s folks in there who are telling me, ‘oh, Miss Grass, Miss Grass- oh shit, they’re here.’”

“When you get to see things like that and realize how tight-knit this community really is, it’s really enlightening. It’s inspiring.”

Is it difficult to set up an event like this in terms of legality?

“Oh yeah. I would love to have a conversation with the CRC (NJ Cannabis Regulatory Commission) and other governing folks about what we’re doing…There are so many limitations on what you can do and how you can do. We can govern this if you just have a conversation with us.”

“People told me, ‘Hey, I came today not knowing what to expect, and then once I got here, I was like, oh, this is cool.’ But until you see it, until you really know what it is, how could you know?”

Robinson has also cofounded the NJ Cannabis Chamber of Commerce, Mudd Brothers Cannabis Co., and the Minority Cannabis Academy
