Lifted held a fun and educational party, enjoyed by many that featured dabs and infused brownies by ButACake at the JC Walls event space in Jersey City.
The Lifted Tasting Experience party was a sign of how legal cannabis spaces in New Jersey are becoming more normalized, educational, and community-driven. It was put together as a free community party for the NJ cannabis community.
A Beautiful Atmosphere in Jersey City
The companies collaborated to curate a free dab and brownie experience with a live DJ and food served.
As people entered, they were welcomed with food and specially made brownies by the friendly ButACake team.
The Lifted team educated those who joined on how to properly use different forms of rigs, including going over safety and best practices. The art of dabs was clearly something they were happy to share. They were eager to spread calm happiness across the room. The dabs were given out by Lifted and Higher Function courtesy of Mudd Brothers, MPX, and Rhythm, whose products were showcased.
Lifted Party in Jersey City
Lifted CEO and event organizer Chris Broderick explained how the normalization of cannabis friendly spaces like JC Walls is so important. It creates a friendly, happy, safe environment which brings people together. He noted how calm the room was and the large difference between this gathering and more alcoholic settings. They tend to be prone to a much wilder energy compared to the community-oriented, mellow, and warm setting here at the weed party.
Chris said that if he had to pick one thing that sets his company apart, it would be its fun nature and the environment it fosters. He believed events like his shouldn’t have to hide.

ButACake Products Featured
While at the party, ButACake CEO Matha Figaro described some of the products they make.
“ButACake focuses on making handmade, artisanal, small-batch edibles. We focus on doing elevated classics, no additives, no preservatives, no artificial dyes or colorings,” she explained. “We really focus on making sure that we’re making a quality baked good. It’s not just about the fact that there’s 10 milligrams in it, but the fact that it’s truly like an artisan-made product.”
“We are licensed. We operate out of Neptune, New Jersey. I’m saying we. But it’s my license: Black, minority, woman-owned,” MF noted. “We also produce a line, upcoming, called Angry Gorilla, which is sugar-free and diabetic friendly. So that’ll be available shortly. We also produce the churro latte cereal bar for Prolific Grow House.”
ButACake has been busy producing infused products since it first debuted an infused peanut butter and jelly brownie in April 2024.
Their line now includes a range of infused cookies, including a sugar cookie. They also noted that many enjoy their snickerdoodle and chocolate chunk cookies.
The ButACake table, along with featuring samples, had homegrow legalization cards.

Education and Community
The invisible walls between people really feel much thinner in environments like this. Strangers found community in their commonality and bonded. Groups and conversations formed, and ideas and interests were shared.
The smoke drifting past the gorgeous lights and art simply added to the peaceful feel of the event. The excellent DJ played synth-heavy but calm music as the patient workers and organizers walked people through their products and shared their gifts.
Sometimes the world can feel cold and hostile, especially to cannabis consumers. So spaces like this feel essential to a culturally healthy society. Created for community over profit, they bring people together in a beautiful and healthy way.
