Noted entertainer and NJ resident Whoopi Goldberg is going to debut her new hemp THC drink Whoop-Tea at the CMB cannabis industry convention, previously the CWC.
The annual Cannabis World Congress (CWC) Expo at the Jacob Javits Center in New York City has been renamed Cannabis Means Business (CMB). It will be held this year from Wednesday June 4th to Thursday the 5th next week.
Whoopi Goldberg will sit down with CNBC’s Tim Seymour on Wednesday, June 4, for a conversation in the Special Events Area.* They’ll discuss the cannabis hemp-derived beverage market and the vision behind Whoop-Tea, her collaboration with leading cannabis beverage brand Pure Genesis.*
Whoop-Tea is a non-alcoholic hemp THC mocktail drink that blends iced tea and lemonade.
“I wanted to create something that’s fun, relaxing, and brings people together, without the hangover,” said Whoopi. “I’m excited to bring this to CMB and to be part of this incredible shift in wellness culture.”
“It’s all about unwinding and enjoying the moment,” she said about the drink.
“CMB is all about bringing together bold voices and visionary brands to drive the future of cannabis,” said Christine Ianuzzi, CEO of CMB. “Whoopi’s involvement, and the launch of Whoop-Tea with Pure Genesis is the kind of high-impact moment that defines what our event is all about.”
Hemp THC drinks are becoming a big business with major alcohol, wine, and beer companies getting into the market. They are also actively trying to shape it in New Jersey via their seasoned lobbyists, a common business tactic.
Pure Genesis Whoop Tea Deal
Pure Genesis will have a major presence on the CMB exhibit floor. Its Co-Founder and CEO, Faye Coleman, will participate in the Women in Cannabis Entrepreneurship Luncheon on Thursday, June 5th.
Coleman is from South Jersey. She is a noted lawyer and advocate who has been in the works of establishing Pure Genesis from some time. She will share her experience of starting a cannabis business.
“We’re thrilled to partner with Whoopi. A cultural icon who shares our passion for quality, community, and breaking stigma,” Coleman said. Faye Coleman, CEO and Co-Founder of Pure Genesis. “The product is elevated, inclusive, and truly enjoyable.”
“Whoop-Tea is what happens when passion meets purpose,” added Pure Genesis co-founder Priscilla Wynn. “It’s a celebration of flavor, culture, and community. And a testament to what’s possible when visionary women lead.”
Whoopi and Pure Genesis seem to have something between a white labeling deal and a production deal.
In a white labeling deal, a pretty brand logo or face associated with a small company is slapped on a larger company’s products.
In a production deal, the larger company might agree to provide its assets and/or subsidize a smaller company that has unique recipes, ingredients, and talent along with a brand.

CWC Becomes Cannabis Means Business
Cannabis Means Business (CMB) is a new vision for the show previously run as CWCBExpo. It will offer a large trade show floor that’s good for networking. There’s also a diverse slate of industry-leading speakers, presenting insightful addresses, educational sessions, and workshops. The panels are designed to address the complexities of operating within the regional, national, and global cannabis marketplace.
Notably, there will be a psychedelic Educational skit with NJ advocate and consultant Gaetano Lardieri and other prominent advocates.
In addition, there will be a Cannabis Workforce Job Fair, hosted by the NY Cannabis Workforce Initiative, and networking events including the B2B Bash and the O2VAPE industry Yacht Party, which comes as part of their top $625 ticket.
