Wu-Tang Clan’s Raekwon’s Hashstoria joins a growing list of celebrity-backed cannabis brands and locations.
Renovations Approved For Cannabis Lounge Hashstoria
Hashstoria recently presented its plans for facade renovations to the city’s Landmark and Historic Preservation Commission.
The building in the Four Corners Historic District will receive an expanded brick facade. This will give it a more unified appearance. Additionally, there will be community art in the window.
The Commission unanimously approved the application. Hashtoria is planning for a March 2023 public opening.
Many town councils in New Jersey are against cannabis companies in their borders despite overwhelming voter approval. Newark, however, is in full support.
On-Site Consumption Allowed
New Jersey recently became the 8th state to allow on-site cannabis use. This makes it possible for Hashstoria to open its fourth location in Newark. The company’s website lists a March opening date.
Newark Welcomes Hashstoria
Commissioner Richard Grossklaus said, “I think it looks a whole lot better than what you presented before, and I applaud you for it.” Hashstoria, a portmanteau of hashish and Astoria, is excited to bring its unique experience to Newark.
Historic Building Gets a Makeover
The four-story building suffered insensitive modernizations in the past. However, renovations by Hashstoria aim to bring back its original charm.
The existing window frames will be painted black to coordinate with the signage. The blue brick facade on the south half of the building will also be expanded.
The renovations will also include community art in the windows, adding it to the city’s vibrant arts scene.

Raekwon also continues expanding on this trend and adds to the industry’s growing list of celebrity-backed ventures. Wu-Tang weed is sure to be a favorite of many.
Hashstoria promises to bring a new level of sophistication to the cannabis lounge experience with its focus on history, art, and also in innovation.
As the trend continues, it’s exciting to see what other celebrities will bring to the New Jersey weed industry in the future.
