Flower Union launched the first fast-acting craft whole-flower gummy in the New Jersey adult-use cannabis market recently.
It is the 1st edible product in the market made of pure Whole Flower.
It is the first and only edible on the market to deliver a whole-flower cannabis experience without the smoke.
“We’re the 1st thing that’s a true expression of the plant,” Flower Union President Jon Spadafora argued.
Flower Union Gummies Product Review
Flower Union gummies have flecks of flower you can see and taste in every bite. This also gives their gummies a very unique taste. So, people who like the taste of weed are going to like Flower Union gummies.

More casual consumers might find it too strong.
Underground legacy gummies often taste like weed too.
There are five different types of Flower Union Gummies to choose that reflect different states of mind:
- Recover, an Indica with Rose Berry Musk
- Unwind, an Indica-hybrid
- Create, a Sativa-hybrid with Citrus Pepper Hops
- Balance, a Hybrid
- Boost, a Sativa
Heady NJ sampled Recover, Unwind, and Create.
The Recover ones were the ones I liked the most. They have a very unique taste since the flavors are Rose, Berry, and Musk, according to the can. Also the aftertaste is especially distinct like weed.
The Unwind gummies were very good to as an Indica gummy unwinding after a long week watching movies.
The Create gummies with pepper, hops, and citrus is likely to have a very niche audience.
Spadafora argued that people will learn to like their gummies.
He noted it’s hard to figure dosing sizes and onset times. So, their gummies have a fast predictable onset time and intensity.
According to them, you can expect the high to kick in within 5-15 minutes. Some gummies might take up to 90 minutes, depending on your body metabolism and when you last ate.
Available in NJ Dispensaries
Spadafora was happy at the range of local independent dispensaries in New Jersey where his gummies are available.
“You gotta get to know the state and the people,” he noted.
“There’s a great culture,” Spadafora said. “I had expected it to be kinda more MSO (Multi-State Operator) uncool. And have really been enjoying these smaller shop groups that give a shit. It’s something you can’t teach.”
Flower Union gummies are available at the following dispensaries among others:
- Cannavibes in Elmwood Park.
- La Videa Gardens in Belleville.
- Sea and Leaf in Cape May
- Blue Oak in Bloomfield.
- Rush Budz in South Bound Brook.
- Indigo in Brooklawn.
- Puffin in New Brunswick.
- The Station in Hoboken.
- Queen City Dispensary in Plainfield.
- SoulFlora in West Milford.
- Anja in Highland Park.
- Fresh in Eatontown.
- Social Cannabis in Vineland.
- ReLeaf Cannabis in Gloucester Township.
- High St Dispensary in Warren Township.
- Boontown Dispensary in Boontown.
New Premium Product
Spadafora noted he is visiting often and training dispensary budtenders on the nuances of the Flower Union gummies.
“It carries a high price point because of paying more for key ingredients,” he explained.
Spadafora argued that whiskey producers convinced people that there was a market for high-end, high-priced bottles of Johnny Walker Blue versus cheap whiskey.
He’s not the only one to make such a comparison.
“The prices are high in New Jersey. It will come down. Hopefully, it will stabilize,” Spadafora explained.
Making Craft Cannabis Gummies
He noted said gummy makers often use mids or middling flower and distillate oil to make basic gummies. Others use higher-end hash rosin oil to infuse gummie,s which ensures more of the plant’s benefits go into them.
In contrast, Spadafora said their gummies are crafted with every part of the plant.
Tapioca, cane sugar, and citric acid are primarily what make up the gummies. They also use pectin and a special formula from Azuca who they are working with. This ensures there is water solubility so they are fast acting. He said it changes how the body receives cannabinoids.
They specifically added the terps of the flavors
Edibles usually go through the stomach and need to be broken down, which takes time.
“It’s the easiest way to try it but the hardest way to experience it,” Spadafora noted.
According to them, the high should last from an hour and a half to two and a half hours.
Production Deal
Flower Union has a production deal with Harvest Works Corporation of Holmdel, which has a manufacturing license.
They worked with Hamilton Farms, Garden Greens and Illicit of Missouri to source its flower.
They are also talking to other cultivators about using their strains
“We’re going to find those perfect batches,” Spadafora declared
Flower Union Company Background
Flower Union is a smaller company from Colorado. They were in the cannabis market for less than a year there before coming to Jersey.
New Jersey is the only other state they’re in right now.
He explained he worked in cultivation and head of sales and marketing for large brands in Colorado and learned a lot about terpenes or terps.
Spadafora recently spoke on a panel at the MJ Unpacked cannabis convention in Atlantic City.
Gummy Benefits
Cannabis flower is usually the most popular way to consume cannabis for most.
However, low-dose gummies have become popular as the legal New Jersey cannabis market has grown.
A dislike of the harshness of smoke on the throat, illness, and being in non-smoking public spaces makes gummies convenient when the smell connoisseurs call an aroma and the haters say it is an odor is a problem.
