Casa Verde Wellness is set to transform the local cannabis market with the opening of its dispensary in Dover in Morris County in North Jersey.
They are hosting a grand opening celebration this Saturday, September 21st. Attendees can look forward to a lively event featuring free food and drinks, live music, and exclusive gifts with purchase.
In addition, Casa Verde Wellness will hold a raffle for members of the Casa Rewards program, offering exciting prizes to commemorate the launch.
It is one of the few licensed cannabis dispensaries in Morris County.
“Casa Verde” means Green House in Spanish. Dover has a significant Hispanic community so it makes sense the name is in Spanish, and a lot of their promotional material is bilingual.
This grand opening marks the beginning of a new chapter in Dover, providing residents and visitors with high-quality, locally sourced cannabis products in an inclusive and accessible environment.
Casa Verde Wellness Dispensary Opens
The company is both minority-owned and locally operated. The dispensary proudly operates within an Impact Zone, a place where the War on Drugs was especially devastating. This underscores their commitment to the community and their role in promoting economic development and equitable access to cannabis products.
Casa Verde Wellness officially opened its doors on September 6th. It offers a carefully curated selection of premium cannabis products, all compliant with New Jersey’s strict state regulations.
The dispensary’s team is dedicated to providing top-tier service and education for both seasoned cannabis enthusiasts and newcomers alike, ensuring a welcoming environment for all.
In a press release, Casa Verde Wellness called itself more than just a place to purchase cannabis products. They said it’s a hub for wellness, education, and social responsibility.
Opening in Dover
Sativa Cross advocate, small businessman, and Dover resident Chris Velaquez sought a license and was a leader in the campaign to allow dispensaries in town. But Velaquez could not find property in their small Green Zone where cannabis companies are allowed. He has since become the Social Media Manager for Casa Verde.
Velasquez noted they held an Impact Zone job fair and hired 9 locals from it.
The town of Dover approved the Casa Verde Wellness dispensary to open in town in March 2023.
The NJCRC approved them for a conditional micro dispensary license in December 2022 under the name “Happy Time Buds.” They won their conversion to the annual dispensary license needed to open in December 2023 from the NJCRC.
In April, the NJCRC approved the change from Happy Time Buds to Casa Verde Wellness.
The name change letter was sent by the NJCRC to Ramon Valle, who has a background in real estate.
In August, Dover Mayor James Dodd toured the dispensary and met with owners Christian Vega and Roger Williams. Vega has a background in real estate as well.
Gilbert and Rene Roman are owners too. Gilbert is on the Dover Board of Adjustment, which seems to handle City Planning and Zoning.
Velasquez explained, “Their goal is to uplift our community and support local business. All the owners have done business in town for years. Together they have like 100 years of local business experience.”
“Community reinvestment is a major factor in their business plan. They plan to host expungement clinics. They are sponsoring the Burn up clean up and community events to educate on responsible cannabis consumption,” he added.
