The Multi-State Operator (MSO) cannabis corporation Justice Cannabis Co., formerly Justice Grown, opened the 1st medical cannabis dispensary in Ocean County and the 44th in New Jersey as Bloc Dispensary in Waretown.
They held their Grand Opening earlier this month.
Bloc Dispensary Open in Waretown
Bloc Dispensary is at 501 US 9 in Waretown, a community in Ocean Township of Ocean County versus Ocean Township of Monmouth County.
It’s notable that they have bilingual services and want to host food drives, clothing drives, clean parks, and help in “whatever way we can,” according to the Barnegat Manahawkin Patch.
The Bloc Dispensary in Waretown is also trying to institute a drive through which is interesting.
According to NJ Spotlight, there are 8,300 New Jersey medical cannabis patients in Ocean County, which is a lot for one county. They previously had to travel long distances to secure their medical cannabis.
The MSO was formerly known as Justice Grown. They changed the holding company to Justice Cannabis Co. Their New Jersey cannabis dispensaries are now known as “Bloc.” They explained they changed the name because of its sense of fostering community. Justice Cannabis Co./Bloc Dispensary is based out of Illinois.
Like other companies, they take pride in working with the Last Prisoner Project, which seeks to help current and former cannabis prisoners.
Waretown allowed some cannabis companies last year via an ordinance but not adult use cannabis dispensaries.
Bloc Waretown opened around the same time as Social Leaf, which opened in South Toms River for adult use cannabis sales only.
It took them four years to open their first location in New Jersey in Ewing under the name Justice Grown after being one of the 2018 New Jersey medical cannabis license winners. Construction difficulties and COVID stalled the process.
While there have been more New Jersey cannabis dispensaries opening, the quality of products remains low, and the price remains far too high compared to legacy underground cannabis products.
Bloc secured the ability to begin New Jersey adult use cannabis sales earlier this year. The NJ-CRC approved their locations in Ewing in Mercer County and Franklin Township in Somerset County to conduct adult use cannabis sales.
