URB’N Dispensary and Restore NJ have opened the 36th and 37th New Jersey medical cannabis dispensaries in Newark and South Jersey.
They were awarded in the 2019/2021 licensing round.
Both decided to do soft openings where one accepts some customers to ensure there are no problems. It’s usually only afterward that a “Grand Opening” is held where oversized scissors cut a ribbon with local officials and leaders.
URB’N Dispensary Open
URB’N Dispensary opened in Newark in Essex County, the state’s largest city. They are the very first to do so. URB’N Dispensary is located at 378 South Street in the Ironbound neighborhood.
URB’N Dispensary’s website says they are owned by a woman who is a pharmacist. They also proclaim they’re independently owned.
They have a wide range of products. Some of those licensed medical cannabis companies are also white labeling the products of noted cannabis brands. These well-known brands by Mike Tyson and Cookies among others then did not go through the complicated and expensive process necessary to enter the New Jersey cannabis market. Mike Tyson is promoting ear-shaped gummies referring to his infamous ear biting incident.
While the state medical cannabis tax was removed, towns are still allowed to impose a two percent tax on cannabis revenue. Newark is among the towns doing so.
Restore NJ Opened
The New Jersey medical cannabis dispensary Restore NJ has opened in Glassboro in Gloucester County in South Jersey. Restore NJ is located at 300 William L Dalton Dr., Glassboro, NJ 08028.
They are near Rowan University, a noted college in South Jersey. It has been dabbling in cannabis itself.
They are part of a chain that has six medical cannabis dispensaries in Pennsylvania. Dispensaries in two states would make them a Multi-State Operator (MSO).
Restore NJ has a full menu of cannabis products from the existing New Jersey medical dispensaries which are mostly large cannabis corporations that are MSOs that grow, make and sell their own cannabis products.
The company might be notable since on their website, they show how community-minded they are. They have donated to a wide range of medical charities.
Under New Jersey state cannabis law, only one ounce of dried flower can be bought. Five grams of concentrates, resins and oils can also be purchased. And only up to one gram of edible cannabis product can be purchased.
With New Jersey Cannabis Regulatory Commission (NJCRC) approval, 24 of the 35 New Jersey medical cannabis dispensaries also sell adult-use cannabis. That includes two of the 2019/201 license winners, Holistic Solution and Valley Wellness.
