The River City Collective, Cannabis Equity Employment (CEE), Black Cannabis, and Baked by the River dispensary are holding an NJ cannabis expungement clinic and block party this Saturday in Trenton.
NJ Cannabis Expungement Clinic & Block Party
They are holding an opportunity clinic with an NJ cannabis expungement clinic, a job fair, a block party, and wrap-around services this Saturday, May 20th, from 11 am-5 pm at Hub 13 in downtown Trenton New Jersey. As a cannabis block party, there will be many networking opportunities.
Attorney Michael Hoffman will handle the cannabis expungement through his firm, The Hoffman Center (THC). THC is the chemical in cannabis that gets you high. Hoffman has been providing cannabis expungement assistance at many events. The noted law firm Foley Hoag will also be participating. One of their premier lawyers is Mike McQueeny, the attorney for the NJ Cannabis Trade Association, which represents licensed New Jersey cannabis companies.
Like-minded individuals formed the River City Collective. They believe in restorative justice, breaking down barriers to entry in the cannabis industry, and bridging the gap from legacy. Cannabis Equity Employment and Black Cannabis came together to form the River City Collective to provide wrap-around services for those impacted by the War on Drugs.
CEE is an employment database website that provides a pathway to employment in the cannabis industry and beyond. They specialize in assisting individuals from impact zones and those with prior cannabis convictions.
Black Cannabis is an organization dedicated to uplifting the Black Indigenous People of Color (BIPOC) communities. They do so through cannabis education and awareness via media, events, marketing, and strategic partnerships. They have been working hard to promote Black ownership in the New Jersey cannabis industry consistently. Black Cannabis has held many events, including Zoom forums during COVID.
Upcoming NJ Adult-use Cannabis Dispensary Baked by the River
CEE is a non-profit founded by Jesse Marie Villars and Cord Schlovohm. They are the owners of Baked by the River. It’s an up-and-coming adult-use cannabis dispensary in Lambertville in Hunterdon County on the Delaware River. Villars is the majority owner, so it is woman-owned.
They have legacy roots and have been in the space for many years. Villars and Schlovohm have been working very hard to open a dispensary in Lambertville. The owners of Baked By the River made great progress as cannabis advocates in town.
By doing so, they connected with local business leaders who have helped them.
They have secured an old Fire House for their location. It is a unique building with living quarters attached that are zoned residential. They want to open a cannabis lounge there. In the meantime, they have held various events, including industry gatherings and new age and LGBT-friendly gatherings.
Baked by the River won its conditional license from the NJ Cannabis Regulatory Commission (NJCRC) last July. They are in the process of converting to an annual license. Like many New Jersey cannabis companies, they hit a snag with the process. It was solved after they spoke during a meeting of the NJCRC. Baked by the River plans to open soon.
Cannabis Legalization Progress
As a legacy local woman-owned business, they are the Goldilocks type of cannabis company many New Jersey cannabis advocates want to see open. They range from the Goldilocks to an out-of-state White male-owned corporation that is a Multi-State Operator (MSO) with mediocre and expensive cannabis products. They are usually indifferent to labor and environmental issues and social justice. The range is very wide.
The NJ cannabis expungement clinic and block party will be downtown at the Hub 13 cannabis company incubator space. It is a unique, remodeled venue that has hosted many cannabis parties. Hub 13 also functions as a workspace for startups.
We at Heady NJ are holding a New Jersey Cannabis Homegrow Forum at Hub 13 on Saturday, June 24th. Heady NJ wants to bring together the cannabis community and industry to address this issue in a place where everyone can enjoy themselves.
