Cornbread Hemp, Inc. is adding lime margarita flavor to the brand’s roster of THC-infused seltzer hemp drinks.

The drinks are pretty good. They’re even better if you like lime. They’re currently being sold directly to consumers.
Cornbread Hemp is selling a light seltzer with 5 mg of hemp-derived THC per can. Each can carries 30 calories and 5 grams of sugar. Plus, it has all-natural flavors along with being organic, vegan-friendly, and gluten-free.
In a release, Cornbread called itself “a market leader of premium all-natural wellness products using only the highest-quality ingredients and safety standards.”
Cornbread Hemp Drinks Betting on DC Not Banning Hemp Drinks
This is a wilder product drop than you might imagine. This is especially wild when the legal hemp industry could end in early December, depending on what happens in Washington, DC.
“Would it be easier to not launch a new THC product this close to the Hemp Ban Decision? Yes,” says Co-founder Jim Higdon. “But we want to make a statement that hemp beverages are here to stay.”
The timing of this launch is no accident. Federal restrictions on hemp-derived THC products were set to take effect November 12th. However, a passed Senate provision granted a one-month extension for infused intoxicating hemp sales in smoke shops and liquor stores.
The ban would affect Cornbread, which says it produces natural, hemp-derived Delta-9 THC products. The extension explicitly excludes synthetic cannabinoids, Delta-8, and THCa products from that same extension.
While a number of other Delta-9 THC brands in the space have responded by pausing launches and liquidating inventory ahead of the deadline, Cornbread has chosen a different path.
“A lot of brands are packing it in right now,” said Higdon. “We’re doing the opposite. We’re launching our most exciting flavor of the year because we believe in what we make.”
“We believe in doing this the right way, natural, hemp-derived, Delta-9 THC,” he argued.
“We want to show people and the industry what quality looks like, especially when it’s under pressure. Y’all need a margarita, and we’re going to make sure you get one,” Higdon declared.
Cornbread Hemp and National Hemp Politics
Cornbread Hemp said it is closely monitoring the regulatory landscape and will continue to operate in compliance with applicable law as the rules around hemp-derived THC evolve.
They are one of the biggest hemp drink companies. Like many, it is from Kentucky, where hemp is said to grow especially well.
They might think that Kentucky’s US Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) and those allied with President Donald Trump (R) can help them maintain their loophole. Higdon and his partner gave Paul a tour of their facility last year, according to the Louisville Business Journal.
