Mike Tyson Comes to Rollin’ Green Cannabis Dispensary Opening in Atlantic City

Rollin’ Green recently opened the latest cannabis dispensary in Atlantic City on Arctic Avenue and featured celebrity Mike Tyson.

He enjoyed himself amidst the opening day festivities.

Rollin’ Green Director of Business Development and Brand Operations Clein De Araujo explained this was a soft opening. They will have a bigger grand opening party later.

Usually, celebrities don’t go to soft openings.

They want to combine culture and cannabis. So, the place has a big screen TV, and they want to invite other celebrities to visit.

“We come from the legacy market and the black market,” De Araujo noted. “I’ve built a lot of big brands before.”

“I’ve had a relationship with Mike Tyson,” he said. “He knows I have a good palate for the industry.”

Tyson was in town to do a comedy show at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in AC.

Rollin’ Green said it is proud to carry Tyson 2.0, Mike Tyson’s cannabis brand. The dispensary also features flower from Mike Tyson. Notably, they do not have his ear-shaped gummies.

Tyson has been in the cannabis industry for a while with his brand, Tyson 2.0. He has said it has made him calmer since the time he bit Evander Holyfield’s ear in the middle of a boxing match.

Tyson has been in the news along with Ric Flair since they are angry at the company that was making their cannabis products. In fact, they are suing Carma and its CEO Chad Bronstein, who seems like a chad.

Tyson has also lobbied for legalization in Pennsylvania recently. So, he seems to have a more vested interest than those who just want to make a buck.

Rollin’ Green Overview

They say they offer a carefully curated selection of premium cannabis strains, edibles, concentrates, and other products.

Rollin’ Green’s menu features a range of flowers from local and smaller operators. They seem to have an ounce for $170 from Feelz, a brand from the Northern California-based Bango.

An ounce of legal weed used to be a lot more expensive in Jersey.

Their knowledgeable staff is dedicated to providing personalized guidance and product education, ensuring a welcoming and professional experience for every customer.

De Araujo was eager to sell legal versions of legacy strains like Glitter Bomb.

“We try to have these flavors on deck for you to experience,” he said.

De Araujo wanted to champion and feature minority and legacy operators at the dispensary in terms of brands.

He also said they want to “give people the best possible bud at the best possible price.”

“We want to be able to guide you,” De Araujo noted. “The customer service is not always there… I’ve been let down… We’re trying to avoid that.”

Serving Customers with Quality Cannabis Products

He argued they can appeal to longtime consumers, newbies, and casual consumers.

“The education needs to matter so they can make the best decision for themselves,” De Araujo said.

He noted that the smokability of flower matters greatly. De Araujo noted the many issues with growing quality herb.

“We’ve really thought about the process,” he explained.

Rollin’ Green said they were inspired by Atlantic City’s iconic casino culture. It features what it calls a retro-chic environment that blends entertainment, education, and cutting-edge retail design.

“We’re really looking to blend into the culture here,” De Araujo said.

Rollin’ Green calls itself “a hub for discovery, connection, and revitalization.”

Surviving in the Atlantic City Cannabis Market

Once a thriving corridor of Atlantic City, Arctic Avenue is hoping to experience a new chapter of revitalization. Rollin’ Green is proud to be part of that transformation.

It’s a few blocks from the Atlantic City Boardwalk.

De Araujo explained that it used to be an old laundry mat.

“We’re not just opening a dispensary. We’re helping bring new life back to Arctic Avenue,” the Rollin’ Green ownership team claimed in a release.

They said that “at its core, Rollin’ Green is committed to supporting the Atlantic City community through local hiring, neighborhood investment, and inclusive access to safe, regulated cannabis.”

De Araujo said they hired a local artist to paint a mural.

Hopefully, that will help them stay open in the very competitive Atlantic City market.

Heady NJ hears a few dispensaries are struggling to survive there.

Dealing with Issues

Atlantic City thought packing dispensaries near each other was a good idea. They also want them to compete where underground legacy operators are likely firmly established. AC did learn and allowed places to open elsewhere in the city and established a cap last year.

Also, the casinos are designed so that no one leaves with plenty of food and booze, plus no clocks or windows. But some tourists might be bold and venture around the city, rather than sticking to the Boardwalk or inside a casino.

To complicate matters, New York City is muscling in on AC’s gambling turf. Unfortunately, a lot of places have been doing that for decades now, which diminishes the number of tourists.

The NJ Cannabis Regulatory Commission (CRC) awarded Sima Kleinman of Toms River the dispensary license in April 2023.

She doesn’t seem prominently featured on their Instagram.

It does feature a businessman named Jason Sisneros who posed with Tyson and said the business was built to be sold in three years.

He is their consultant, De Araujo noted.

In the future, they are eager to develop genetics through cultivation and manufacturing operations.
