At their September meeting the Bordentown Twp Planning Board unanimously approved Curaleaf’s application to operate in town.
They approved a location on Rt. 130 for a retail only operation. It would thus be the satellite of their Bellmawr, NJ location in Camden County.
Curaleaf went into great detail about how safe their location would be along with the nuances of its operation. Chris Melillo, Curaleaf’s Senior Vice President of Retail operations explained their approach to security which includes cameras, guards, and how their medicinal marijuana is actually kept in what’s known as “The DEA cage.”
They utilize a specific plan to monitor the overall location at all times.
In addition. no one is permitted to consume medicinal marijuana on their property before or after purchasing.
Some made their voices heard on the Bordentown Twp Planning Board meeting held over Zoom regarding the issue.
“It’s been a struggle for me to go 45 minutes north or 45 minutes south of here to get my prescribed medications,” said local resident Robin Neglia. She then thanked the mayor.
At the August meeting, the presentation ran well into the night and no vote was taken on the matter.
Bordentown in Burlington County is a fairly progressive, South Jersey suburb. There’s a pornography store on one of their highways. The City of Bordentown is independent of Bordentown Twp.
