The Camden Apothecary dispensary has become a sponsor of the Xfinity Live! entertainment venue by the Eagles’ Stadium Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia.
It is likely the first time a cannabis dispensary has been accepted for an endorsement deal with a major American company.
“They allowed themselves to be affiliated with a cannabis brand. This is groundbreaking,” Camden Apothecary Owner Anthony Minniti argued. “It’s a milestone in the effort to normalize cannabis brands and move them more into the mainstream, not unlike fine cigars, wines, craft beer, or spirits.
“That’s never happened since companies, particularly major American companies like Comcast/Spectacor, won’t do business with … cannabis brands,” he noted. “Sort of like Toyota, Official Automotive Partner of the National Football League, for example.”
Xfinity Live! by Eagles Stadium
The other sponsors of the Xfinity Live! venue owned by Comcast includes Budweiser, Victory Brewing Company, and Pepsi, among others.
It is an entertainment complex in the heart of the South Philadelphia Sports Complex, which includes Lincoln Financial Field, which is the stadium where the Philadelphia Eagles play. Xfinity Live! contains several restaurants and bars, as well as mechanical bull riding.
Many were there on Sunday watching the Eagles slaughter the Kansas City Chiefs in the 59th Super Bowl 40-22 in a stunning upset.
“As a nearly 55-year-old fan, It’s almost incomprehensible to see a win like that!” Minniti exclaimed.
Despite many efforts, the Republicans in Pennsylvania have been successfully blocking adult-use cannabis reform in their state since at least 2020. So many Pennsylvanians have been crossing the Delaware to take advantage of New Jersey cannabis dispensaries.
Thus, Camden Apothecary is not the first New Jersey adult-use cannabis dispensary to market to Pennsylvanians. Plus, plenty of Jersey people hang out in Philly.
Camden Apothecary Makes Moves
Camden Apothecary is an exclusively adult-use cannabis dispensary in the City of Camden across the Delaware River from the City of Philadelphia. They have been active in the community. For example, they sponsored a cannabis film festival held in Camden last fall.
Minniti operated a pharmacy there that sold medical cannabis prior to federal marijuana prohibition that is still open next to the dispensary.
