NECANN New Jersey Cannabis Convention Returning to AC Oct. 2-3

The NECANN New Jersey Cannabis Convention is returning to Atlantic City at the Showboat Hotel to provide business and medical education October 2-3, 2021.

NECANN’s NJCANN will be the largest gathering of New Jersey’s cannabis industry professionals and those looking forward to the adult-use recreational market. With two locally-focused education tracks running concurrently each day, attendees can learn about the New Jersey cannabis market from dozens of speakers representing all corners of the industry.

“NJCANN is designed for industry leaders, advocates, entrepreneurs, career and knowledge seekers, and the canna-curious to come together to learn and meet the people paving the way for New Jersey,” said Marc Shepard, founder and President of NECANN. “With the cannabis industry heating up in the Mid-Atlantic, it’s also a timely opportunity for operating and new businesses alike to engage with and learn from consumers, promote their businesses, and promote their products.”

NECANN NJCANN Atlantic City Highlights

Highlights of NECANN’s upcoming Atlantic City conference include  Executive Director of the New Jersey Cannabis Business Association (NJCBA) Tara “Misu” Sargente hosting a session for new businesses entitled, “NJ Canna-Business: Licensing, Regulations, and Success in a Massive New Market.”

In addition, a panel titled “Atlantic City’s Balancing Act: How Cannabis Opportunities, Tourism, and Social Justice Intersect” will include members of the Atlantic City Cannabis Commission and stakeholders in gaming, civic leadership, and public safety. They will discuss issues such as job creation, training, ways of uplifting the local Atlantic City community, safe consumption spaces and experiences, rules for cannabis in concerts and casinos, retail development and expansion of commercial sections of the city, and pathways for entrepreneurs looking to feature cannabis in their new businesses.

While NECANN is a professional business convention, they are embracing the underground, legacy market.

Vladimir Bautista, co-founder of the underground New York cannabis consumption lounge Happy Munkey, will lead a discussion “From Legacy to Legal: Transitioning into the New Legal World.” It will focus on how entrepreneurs can transition from the legacy or gray market into the legal space in New Jersey and beyond.

When the Happy Munkey lounge was raided and shut down, Bautista and his partner subsequently pivoted to being a media company.

Details of the NECANN NJCANN, including how to purchase tickets, are available online.

Since 2015, NECANN has hosted the large, comprehensive cannabis industry event series in the Northeast. In 2019, they hosted a convention in Atlantic City. They were not able to do so last year. Instead, a virtual convention was held.

The Showboat Hotel was supposed to hold the New Jersey Cannabis Festival in August but shut it down because they thought it would clash with their image. They have nonetheless been fine with NECANN continuing.
