NJ State Assembly Hearing On Cannabis – North Region
May 12, 2018 @ 10:00 am - 3:00 pmFree
In addition to a day-long hearing of testimony from advocates and opponents on legalizing cannabis on Monday, March 5, additional assembly hearings were announced, affording additional opportunities for the public to be heard on this important issue in New Jersey. The purpose of the hearings is for committee members to receive testimony from speakers on the impact of prospective marijuana legislation on the public health, criminal justice system, and economy in New Jersey.
Assemblyman Joe Danielsen, chairperson of the Oversight, Reform and Federal Relations Committee stated that, “[Cannabis] is of great concern at not only the national, but also the state level. That is why, this committee will conduct three additional hearings, off-campus, all on a Saturday, divided into three different regions of the state. On April 21 there will be a hearing at Rowan University, one on May 12 at Bergen Community College, and we are hoping, and waiting to be confirmed, a location in mid-April, in Central New Jersey.”
“This is an important civil justice, health care and law enforcement issue. We will hear all viewpoints and continue to get an education.”
